At Cleanial, we believe in a future where sustainable practices are at the very heart of everything we do. Our comprehensive green policy is a testament to this commitment, with a strong emphasis on restoring natural ecosystems through dedicated tree planting and rewilding initiatives. We're chuffed to share how our efforts are contributing to a healthier planet, drawing inspiration from pioneers in the field like Gift a Tree.
Our Vision for a Greener World
We recognise the urgent need to combat climate change and biodiversity loss. That's why Cleanial has made tree planting a cornerstone of our environmental strategy. Trees aren't just vital for clean air; they're the foundation of thriving ecosystems, supporting diverse wildlife and playing a crucial role in carbon sequestration.
Cleanial believes in being as green as possible, actively supporting and mitigating the environmental impact we create on a daily basis. To put this into action, we're proud to announce two key initiatives:
A Sapling for Every New Client: As part of our green policy, for every new client we welcome, we donate a new sapling in their name. Our fantastic partners at Gift a Tree supply us with the unique What3Words location of your sapling, so you're more than welcome to visit their site to see where your tree has been planted.
Growing with Our Team: We also donate a tree for all our staff members who successfully pass their probation period. It's our way of recognising their commitment to Cleanial, while simultaneously growing our collective positive impact on the environment.

The Power of Rewilding: Learning from Leading Initiatives
Our approach is deeply informed by successful rewilding projects that demonstrate the transformative power of nature.
Just think of the incredible work being done at Bradford Farm by Gift a Tree, as highlighted on their Tree Planting & Rewilding page. Since 2017, they've turned barren fields into vibrant habitats by:
Planting extensively: Not just on their own land, but globally across 32 countries through partnerships with NGOs and charities.
Embracing biodiversity: Introducing beehives, creating natural lakes, and cultivating wildflower meadows.
Nurturing natural growth: Allowing hedgerows to flourish for berries and encouraging "weeds" which serve as vital food and cover for wildlife.
Developing water features: Purpose-built bogs and lakes have led to a boom in bird life, insects, and amphibians, creating a rich aquatic environment.
Promoting long grass areas: These provide crucial cover and habitat for small mammals, supporting predators like owls and kestrels, and contributing to overall ecosystem health.
Beyond Trees: The Broader Benefits of Restoring Nature
The impact of rewilding extends far beyond simply planting trees. It's about restoring balance to our environment. Here in the UK, rewilding initiatives offer:
Biodiversity Restoration: Helping bring back species and habitats in a nature-depleted landscape. The UK, after all, is one of the most nature-depleted countries.
Climate Change Mitigation: Natural ecosystems are powerful carbon sinks, capturing and storing carbon in soil and vegetation, whilst promoting sustainable land use practices.
Flood Control: Wetlands and natural floodplains act as sponges, absorbing excess water and reducing downstream flood risks.
Ecotourism and Recreation: Creating beautiful natural spaces offers opportunities for ecotourism, generating local revenue and jobs.
Health and Well-being: Spending time in rewilded environments is proven to reduce stress and enhance both mental and physical health.
Cleanial's Commitment to Action
Inspired by these successes and the pressing environmental challenges, Cleanial is dedicated to embedding these principles into our operations and partnerships. While challenges like land ownership and public safety concerns around species reintroduction exist, we are committed to finding innovative solutions and fostering collaborations with landowners, communities, and policymakers to support and expand rewilding efforts.
A special thank you to the team at Gift a Tree (https://gift-a-tree.com/home) for their truly empowering projects.
Their dedication to rewilding at Bradford Farm, Uplowman Road, Tiverton, Devon, EX16 7DQ, is an inspiration, and we're incredibly grateful for their partnership in our mission to make a tangible difference.
Join Cleanial on our journey towards a more sustainable and vibrant future. Together, we can cultivate a greener tomorrow, one tree, one rewilded space at a time.
